Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K - One Week Later

So here it is guys! My brand new BMPCC 6k that came in the mail a couple days ago. I can’t tell you how incredibly excited I am to use this camera. I’m in my brand new studio.

So this camera came in last week and I decided to take a week and just shoot a ton of broll with it. As a filmmaker, I’ve just always been interested in blackmagic products. I don’t know how you can such an amazing camera for the price that it costs. Anytime I’ve shot with a pocket, I’ve always loved the look of the footage. I think they’re products are very innovative. When they announced this camera last year, I became instantly interested. it’s got an arri alexa look, huge touch screen, 13 stops of dynamic range, super lightweight, dual ISO, user interface is simple and their colors are amazing. The results have been fantastic, so I thought “maybe I should switch teams from sony to blackmagic” and see what happens. There’s definitely a ton of downsides to this camera for sure such as not having good AF, not being able to tilt the back screen, and battery life. For battery life, I have this LP-E6 battery that’ll last you about 30 seconds of shooting, but I got this v-mount that powers the camera for a full day.

You can shoot on SSD, CFAST, or SD card. I’ve been shooting with an SD card right now because I mainly shoot with prores codec just because it doesn’t take up a ton space and it’s really easy to color.

Some of the add on I’ve gotten for this camera are tilta cage, SSD holder, v-mount battery, and pro mist filter. This camera could sometimes be a pain to use because I like to use the ronin-s for my shoots, so I’d have to strip this down and balance it, and then shoot with it.
